| It’s been a while since I’ve been in touch. Over here, I’ve been ensconced in the early childhood years with our son who turned two this past winter. Over the last several years of incubating a new family member as well as new parts of myself and my work, so much rich growth and learning has taken place. My inner landscape and outer world have been fertile ground with lots of questions, insights and soul maturations. My meaningful therapy and coaching work with individuals, couples and families has steadily continued as I took a step back from more public writing and podcasting to lean deeply into family life and motherhood. These years have taken great patience and compassion with myself. They have been powerful and soul fulfilling. The gift of our son has felt ineffable at times, transformative and full of love–not only the feel-good, luminous and beautiful kind of love (there certainly has been an abundance of that!), but also the deep, trying and stirring kind of love. The kind of love that has stretched my capacity. The kind of love that propels profound change and a frequent re-evaluation of values and priorities. As the world turns and burns and we all grapple with the existential questions of where culture, humanity and the planet are heading, I know we are also all dealing with the realities of showing up for the immediacy of our daily lives– our relationships, work, health and well-being. These are not easy times, but these are our times and discerning how and what to engage with is a deeply personal and ever-changing set of choices. For me, right now, I am called back to engage with my writing, my voice and my teaching. I am called back to you, to write about motherhood, family, relationships and the bonds that tie us. I am called back to write about the inner journey of development and how to translate that growth into tangible, on-the-ground practicalities so that our everyday lives feel intentional and sustainable in the midst of global uncertainty and upheaval. I am called back here to stay in the conversation with you about how to keep participating with ourselves and engaging with the world in thoughtful, meaningful and aligned ways as we each walk our paths individually and collectively. I am called back here to write about love and the many forms it takes. Thanks so much for being here and I look forward to reconnecting. With love, Emma |
